First Responders of Re-Entry in Utah

We respond at the jail gate, during the “Golden Hour.”

Traditional re-entry ignores the most critical window of time: the first 120 minutes after release. Knott4Gotten exists to bridge that gap.

Golden Hour Gate-Side Intervention Peer Navigation Immediate Logistics

Why speed matters

  • Release without a plan creates immediate risk
  • Transportation delays compound failure
  • Lack of communication breaks continuity
  • Trust must be built instantly

The system moves slowly. Vulnerability doesn’t.

The Problem: The Empty Gap

Every year, Utah pours millions into re-entry programs that begin weeks after a man has already failed. Knott4Gotten is a first-of-its-kind revolution in the Utah justice system. We are not just another program; we are the First Responders of re-entry.

Traditional re-entry fails because it ignores the Golden Hour. When a man walks out of a jail gate with nothing but his belongings in a plastic bag, he is at his most vulnerable. Without a phone, transportation, or a safe bed within the first 120 minutes, the cycle of recidivism begins. Current systems are too slow to bridge this gap.

The Revolution: Knott4Gotten

Knott4Gotten is founded and operated by four men — Jacob Atkin, Tyler Parker, Jeffrey Greene, and Shane Berry — who have collectively spent over 40 years inside the system they are now working to fix. We are not social workers reading from a manual. We are survivors who have mastered the transition from the cell to the community.

What Makes Us “First of a Kind”

Gate-Side Intervention

We don’t wait for office appointments. We meet the individual at the jail gate.

The RAMP Rescue Model

We provide the logistics umbrella the system lacks: transport, tech access, and rapid coordination.

Proof of Concept

Our lived experience builds immediate trust. Something no agency or policy can manufacture.

RAMP Rescue Initiative

A rapid-response re-entry model built for the first 120 minutes after release. The goal is simple: get someone safely from the gate to a stable next step, immediately.

  • Immediate transport from jail gate
  • Phone and communication access
  • Rapid testing and logistics support
  • Peer navigation and accountability

Our Request: A Partnership in Innovation

We are seeking a startup grant of $[Amount] to fund our flagship RAMP Rescue Initiative. This includes a dedicated peer-navigation vehicle and 100 “Gate Kits” to launch our pilot program.

Investing in four formerly incarcerated men may feel like a risk. But the current system is a revolving door costing Utah taxpayers millions. We are the bridge that has not existed until now. We invite you to help build the first span.

We welcome the opportunity to meet in person and share why Knott4Gotten is the missing piece in Utah’s justice reform.
